The Mission Of The Mage, presentations for the magical storyteller by Ed Solomon.

Book #8, released in September 2004

"The Mission of the Mage" is motivational in nature. It contains 20 complete presentations fully illustrated (anyone who has read any of the first four printed books or owns a copy of the CD-ROM, will know that  a picture is worth a thousand words). For this book, Ron Dayton did the foreword.

This latest release is one of three e-books released in September 2004, the others being Book#6 & Book#7. Details of these are also listed on this website.

The book is supplied as a PDF file on a floppy disk OR, if you live overseas and don't want the risk of it being damaged in transit, it can be emailed to you.

Review by Phil Willmarth of the Linking Ring.

Here are 20 more of  DeNomolos's Presentations for the Storyteller, compiled and edited by Ed Solomon. Produced as an E-book because there was so little profit from his earlier books, given the color photos and the cost of printing, binding and shipping. However, for the magic buyer, the E-books offer the same amount of magic at half the price.

I continue to be amazed by the prolific creativity of Ed Solomon. In addition to his four $50 books (Strange Offerings, Something Strange Within, Sound FX, and Egyptian Magic), he has contributed three Chronicles on three floppies with three floppies of illustrations to our journal. And, I have two more E-books (Magic by the Seat of Your Pants and Tales Worth Telling) which I shall review next month.

Mission of the Mage contains story-telling magic with everything from a glass of milk to four pennies.  There's a great presentation for a paddle trick and a powerful emotional one with a paper chair. "Dad's Brownies" is a wonderful object lesson in parental guidance (with an impish DeNomolos kicker line). There is another in a Three Card Monte effect with the devil to pay. A couple involve roses (the rose production should be of interest to many).

Several of the presentations have spiritual or religious relevance and others romantic. All have the ability to add emotion to magic, something sorely missing in much magic. And, given the skill of the storyteller, most add relevance.  All of these surely will not fit everyone-but if you get just one strong winner $25.00 is not an unusual sum to pay these days. And it is downright cheap if that becomes part of your repertoire or you get more than one. Highly recommended.
