The Kurt Larson profile at the Dragonskull website

Kurt Moore Larson

My level of experience as a Magician: Professional Magician.

My years of experience as a Magician: 50 + years.

I specialize in magic for: Private Parties (business functions / christmas parties / conventions / family reunions), Night Clubs / Comedy Clubs, Restaurants, Corporate Events (trade shows / meetings / product launches).

My favorite type of magic tricks are: BIZARRE MAGIC, Close-up (cards/coins/other), Mentalism (mind reading / predictions), Parlor Magic (magic for audiences larger than close-up and smaller than audiences for stage magic), Street Magic (magic typically performed close-up for random people on the street or other public place).

My first introduction to magic was when I was about 8 years old. I was at a Father and Son dinner at our church and a magician named Harry Tomlinson was that night’s entertainment. I was totally amazed. I really think that I made up my mind that I would one day become a magician. I had no idea that it would become my life’s work at that point. That year I got the obligatory magic set for Christmas – and I was off and running. From that point on it was all I could think of, with every waking hour.

By the time I entered my first year of middle school I had started to perform for friends, relatives, at school and church. I met my friend Bobby during that year and had a dad who was a magician, who sort of took us both on as a teacher. As it turned out he would become my mentor in magic, as did Harry Tomlinson. His name was Bill Greenough, and Bill became the President of The Society of American Magicians – and the only person who would hold that office for two terms besides the Great Houdini himself.

Bill introduced me to many of the greats of that time at conventions and at his home in Wethersfield, CT. I had the privilege of meeting the likes of Harry Blackstone Sr., Sorcar, Jack Chanin, Channing Pollock, Harry Blackstone Jr. and The Professor himself Dai Vervon among many others. Many of them would end up teaching me many thing in magic, during conventions or at visits to Bill’s home.

I have gone on to make many great friends – both in and out of magic. I dedicate this page and all I have done and will do in magic to the one who has gone before me,and whom I miss so very much – my mentor Bill Greenough.

I have achieved many of my dreams in life within the world of magic. At 65 years young, I have been a professional magician since the age of 17 and have achieved more than modicum of success. I have served as Past President of Assembly 21 of the SAM, President 5 years running of The Loyal Order of The Wand, President of The Circle of Thirteen and other magic fraternal clubs and organizations. I am happy to be here, fellow magicians - new and old.

I specialize in: BIZARRE PRESENTATIONS, Sit-down, Walk-around, Bar / Close-Up - although I did perform in an hour and a half Stage Illusion Show, "The Magical World of Kurt Moore Larson" for 5+ years in the '80's.and ‘90’s.

Of books I have read, I consider these to have been the most important and inspirational ones: Compleat Invocation, Séance,  The Arcana of Bizarre Magick, A. E. Waites Book Of Spells, and all of Charles Cameron's books.

My influences: Tony Andruzzi, Charles Cameron, Eugene Jerome Poinc, Bill Greenough, Dai Vernon, Doc Hilford, Peter Marucci, Karl Bartoni, Eugene Burger, Brother Shadow, Simon Lovell, Eric DeCamps, Keith Hart, Patrick Page and Terry Seabrook.

My favorite quote: "No matter how small and unimportant what we are doing may seem, if we do it well, it may soon become the step that will lead us to better things." Channing Pollock - Magician.
