Andrea Mollett
a.k.a. Andrea
Andrea was born Andrea Kay Homan in Kalkaska, Michigan
on October 4, 1966. One of
the portents of mysticism is being born a twinless twin, and such was
the case with Andrea; her twin sister was miscarried.
Andrea was born with a congenital hip deformation, which required several surgeries over the years. Spending a large portion of her childhood in body casts, Andrea had plenty of time to read, think and observe people. She also gained an ascetic’s control over the pain that was her constant companion. Her childhood was spent partly in reportedly haunted houses in Northern Lower Michigan, as well as in her stepfather’s funeral home (he being the local mortician). Part Irish and part Cherokee, Andrea always had the spirit of the coyote, and was prone to some rather grim pranks. Among other skills, she learned to speak in a demonic-sounding voice straight out of The Exorcist, which she fondly calls, “Aroogah.” At 15, Andrea took up her first tarot deck, quickly learning she had the gift of empathy and psychic insight, but began to slide down dark paths. At 18 Andrea was stricken by the deaths of several family members, including the accidental death of her beloved stepfather; events also associated with the lives of the psychically gifted. Abstaining from the tarot for a few years, Andrea went on a personal vision quest to straighten out her spiritual path, stepping back into the light before again taking up the cards.
At 32, she met an unusual gentleman on a blind date. In two weeks they declared their engagement, and four months later Andrea became Mrs. Richard Stephen Mollett (see also Dr. Stephen Midnight). Her wedding dress, which she made herself, consisted of a black, Victorian bodice and burgundy skirt, and with shawling of black, spiderweb lace.
Andrea and her husband have been living in Southwest Ohio with their huskie-sheltie mix, Belladona, and she has been busy doing tarot readings both privately and at public demonstrations. When the book Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix was released, Andrea agreed to perform fortune telling for children at the local bookstore in the persona of “Professor Trelawney.” She followed up a week later with a legitimate tarot demo for adults.
A positive and sincerely helpful personality, Andrea continues to give readings, helping people to find direction and hope. The future looks bright.
In addition to tarot, Andrea enjoys crafts, writing fiction, Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) and watching classic horror movies. Her favorite author is Edgar Allan Poe.
